Cloud2GND has assumed responsibility for support, development, and commercial licensing of the Packetcraft Bluetooth® Low Energy protocol stack. The production-tested stack, qualified to Bluetooth core specification version 5.4 that has been used in Bluetooth-enabled products across consumer, enterprise, automotive, and industrial sectors is now available directly from Cloud2GND.
Cloud2GND provides a clear path forward for current users of both the commercial and open-source versions of the stack, with a range of options for full source access, custom development, and comprehensive engineering support and maintenance. With more than a decade of direct experience working on the Packetcraft stack, users can now rely on a trusted team with deep knowledge of the stack and long-term involvement in the Bluetooth ecosystem, uniquely positioned to provide seamless support for new and existing stack users.
Packetcraft Stack Features and Capabilities
The Packetcraft stack provides a complete, Bluetooth SIG qualified Bluetooth LE implementation, including:
- Packetcraft Controller qualified to Bluetooth core specification version 5.4
- Including Isochronous Channels and PAwR support
- Optional Link Robustness Package
- Optional 802.15.4 MAC support
- Optional Lower Tester capability
- Packetcraft Host qualified to Bluetooth core specification version 5.4
- Standard GATT Profiles and Services
- LE Audio Profiles
- Audio Components
- ESL Profile
- Mesh Profile 1.0
- Access to comprehensive test tools and validation infrastructure
This feature set makes the stack suitable for a wide range of embedded products, including low-power sensors and wearables, consumer and professional audio devices, IoT for retail or industrial, Smart home/office and Mesh-based automation systems and many more.
Unlike Bluetooth stacks provided by chip vendors that are often closed-source and restricted to a narrow set of use cases, the Packetcraft stack is portable, modular, and built with transparency in mind. Full source availability enables engineering teams to understand behavior at every layer of the stack, allowing for precise debugging, optimization, and integration with demanding embedded systems.
Background on the Packetcraft Stack
The Packetcraft stack has been under continuous development for over a decade. It was first created by the Wicentric team, recognized for their extensive Bluetooth expertise, and later acquired by ARM in 2015. In 2019, the original developers released the stack as open source and established Packetcraft as an independent company. In February 2025, Packetcraft was acquired by Synaptics, and the technology became part of their connectivity portfolio. The software continues to be used in commercial deployments and remains fully compliant with Bluetooth SIG standards.
Through a long-term licensing agreement, Cloud2GND now has full access to the Packetcraft stack’s source code, internal test tools, and automation infrastructure. The company is able to provide commercial licenses to new customers and to support existing deployments. This creates a clear, efficient path for teams that want to build with a qualified Bluetooth stack and need a team that knows it inside and out.
Cloud2GND engineers have supported the Packetcraft stack through its evolution under ARM, then Packetcraft, and now as part of this new support model. This continuity enables rapid onboarding, deep technical insight, and the ability to support a wide variety of product requirements.
Engineers at Cloud2GND have worked directly on all components of the stack, including the controller, host, mesh profile, and IEEE 802.15.4 MAC. Their work has included integration across multiple SoCs, feature extensions for customer-specific needs, and custom validation frameworks built on top of the core stack.
What Cloud2GND Offers
As part of this expanded role, Cloud2GND now provides:
- Support and maintenance for existing Packetcraft stack licensees
- Licensing for new customers requiring Bluetooth LE, Mesh, or IEEE 802.15.4 capabilities
- Stack customization, feature development, and application-layer integration
- End-to-end Bluetooth qualification support, including tooling and documentation.
- Porting to new hardware platforms, including vendor-specific optimization
These offerings are designed to help product teams move from evaluation through deployment with a stack that is both proven and highly adaptable.
A Trusted Voice in the Bluetooth Ecosystem
In addition to product-level experience, Cloud2GND has played a foundational role in the Bluetooth standards ecosystem. For more than a decade, the company’s engineers have been active contributors to the Bluetooth SIG and qualification programs.
This includes:
- Authoring the majority of Bluetooth SIG test specifications currently in use
- Reviewing specifications to remove ambiguities and ensure interoperability
- Orchestrating interoperability (IOP) validation events
- Evaluating Bluetooth security vulnerability reports and spec impacts
- Participating in nearly every working group within the Bluetooth SIG.
This standards expertise ensures that customers working with Cloud2GND are supported not only in implementation but also in compliance and long-term ecosystem alignment.
